My name is Richard and I’m a Java developer. I’ve been writing software for the Web for over 18 years, have seen many things. I’ve worn many hats, made a lot of mistakes and learned many lessons along the way.
This is the first personal website I’ve created since Geocities was a thing back in 1996. There’s no real reason for that. I enjoy both writing and the craft of software development, but have never put the two together. Nothing I’ve written has gone beyond a small group of people. Usually friends. Sometimes not.
So why start now?
I do think it’s about time I shared what I have to say and what I’ve learned with anyone who finds it useful. I’d like to write about the craft of building software solutions in a way that I would find helpful.
I’m interested in many things. Domain Driven Design, systems architecture and clean code to name a few. Writing elegant code and using as few third-party libraries as I can are others. So please check back if these are interesting to you.
